Yesterday while walking through Tamworth shopping, I decided to pop into our local Cash Converters store, I spied this on the clearance shelf, it was just shouting "buy me" in my direction, so after parting with £4.99 and taking it home, I decided to have a closer inspection.
The Bush TR82/97 claims to be an updated, faithful reproduction of the original, but I think I can safely say that it certainly is not, the sound quality is not a patch on the original that I own, but still quite acceptable, reception quality to be fair is pretty good but sounds like it has a dirty spot on the tuning capacitor, as it is a little scratchy at one point.
Volume and tone controls operate the same as the original, as do the wavechange switches, and seem the same as the original, but with the addition of the headphone socket, but the biggest criticism is the case, if feels of very cheap plastic, and I fear it would not survive a knock or being dropped as well as the original, also it weighs much less, even with a PP9 battery fitted, it just does not feel right.
I am very inclined to dissect this radio further, just to see what is hidden behind that large plastic cover, so I will post further pictures later, when I have performed minor surgery on it.
Right, of to take my medication now, before they certify me
