Which of the modern type resistors are the lowest inductance apart from carbon composition types and surface mount types?

Well, wirewounds certainly aren't!

It all depends on the quality of the resistor. The carbon types are generally OK and there are in fact low inductance wirewounds to be had too.

Thanks for the reply Steve, since my post I checked a few data sheets and there a quite a few types that seem ok, they will be used at freqs 1 to 30 mhz for a harmonic generator project and I can not afford any unavoidable losses as I need every millivolt I can sqeeze out of it particularly heading up to 30 Mhz.
