One to watch. Panic stations from SWMBO who wanted to watch some cookery program in HD off the dish (why?) only to be presented with a no signal event.

So there is me, 40yds down the garden in the dark with a signal meter and a torch, plugging away on the dish. Said bugger it, can wait until the morning. Daylight reveals two degree shift off of hor axis due to recent high winds. High winds do not normally hit the dish in its current location but these winds came direct and rarely from the south west, just enough to put a wobble on the dish itself and move it ever so slightly off axis.

If you don't have one, invest in a signal strength meter and a compass, saves hours of grief.

i going to keep quite about this but.
after the wind last week .i got a call from a mate who asked if i could look at his dish asit had moved he has a freesat recever as cant get freeview ,no probs say i ,aranged to go round sunday am, i wont be in he says, does not matter i have a self powered meter . i knew the dish was on a post in the garden so no no need for ladders. when i got there the dish was a long way off at least 30 degs so out with the meter hook up to lmb ,look at next doors dish and in a few minuets had a good stong signal. retighten dish reatach coax not forgetting water proof tape . later that night got a call from mate still no progams? so whent round it was a humax box that showed full signal, so did a rescan loads of programs found but no sky free chanels or itv ect .yes i had pointed the dish at hot bird not astra only about 5 degs difference soon sorted but if i had used a compass would have got it right first time

What's five degrees amongst friends? I had the same grief setting up this morning as there were three sats all within a few degrees either side of 0 South. Deep joy....!
