Hello Rob, it's a 1950's Oceanic Surcouf French Valve Radio,

Looks really nice lit up in the dark, it's little sister is called the oceanic pirate,
The french certainly made a lot of art deco styled or extremely ornamental looking radios.

Each 'theme' has a different radio - that one only applies to Apart Earth - if you choose Royal Dust, as I do, it's different, as it is for the other three themes.

Sacre bleu! -Not very patriotic for someone to have posted a French radio on youtube with an Italian (or Spanish?) football commentary being broadcast on it!!

Obviously it's helpful if you can parlez the francais. There's also a gallery etc. I've spent a good while browsing the site.

As Paul says the French made some really attractive sets, at least in my eyes and seemed to continue the Deco theme on for longer than we did.

I think that we should be patriotic and an have a good old British radio at the top (preferably a DAC90a or similar). Goodness me, it'll be garlic (of which British IS best), snails (or should I say 'L'Escargot') and frogs legs next!
