Marconiphone model 148?

Chap at work wandered up to me today with details of a radio in his loft, aparently a Marconiphone 148, serial no 37024. Had a look around on the internet but none the wiser on this model.

Anybody help?

Same here.. only 148 is a HMV from 1934

There were quite a few 50's Marconiphone sets which used an X148 valve tho

I wonder if he made a simple mistake and what he actually has up there is a Marconiphone 248? Dating from 1932, this is a battery-powered 2-valve TRF, MW & LW, cone loud-speaker all in a solid oak cabinet.

I've just pulled up the HMV 148 specs and it turns out that it was also marketed under the Marconiphone label, early badge engineering I guess. I'm seeing the chap tomorrow night, I'll see if the drawing on the print out matches what he has in the loft.
