This unusual model dates from 1975 and uses a German movement from the Junghans company. This movement is relatively well made and with care, can be easily dismantled for repair. The movement was one of the first to use a miniature crystal and custom integrated circuit with no pcb used. It was also one of the first to use the smaller AA size battery instead of the usual C size cell.
This model, like many other Metamec clocks, used a lot of brass which restores nicely once the layer of old lacquer has been removed. All parts dismantle with no problems as would be expected with such a good quality build.
This particular clock was stiff when adjusting the time. The movement gear train was dismantled and cleaned, then reassembled using no lubricant. The movement was tested for a few hours before being returned to the clock.
Time taken for ther restoration was 4-5 hours.
Some pictures are attached.
