KBC Radio on 6095kHz

[Tedzed1]

At Last, something good has now appeared on short wave

KBC radio are testing on this frequency at the moment,
Hours of transmission are daily, 10.00-17.00,
broadcast from the Media Broadcast site from Wertachtal Germany.
Transmission power is 100kW, brilliant signal at my home address here in the midlands.

with presenters such as the Emperor Rosko, and the mighty Ron O'Quinn.

Well Worth A Listen.

(6095kHz = 49.16 Metres)

Paul,
I can't find it
There's a pretty strong German station around that frequency. Of course the Calibration of my B40 may have gone walkabout.
Do I have to get Generators and counters out?
Alan

[Joe]

Same here Alan.

All I can find on that band are the clear German-language one and a couple of what sound like automated Morse. It does seem prone to interference of some sort though so it may be getting drowned.

Just Checked, it is missing this morning, don't know why, it is usually just below the German station,
wonder if alterations or maintainance are being carried out, as they are still on test, will check later this afternoon.

[Joe]

It makes a change for me to be fiddling about on SW. Alan will be at me to get a Pye as they're usually stuffed with bands.

- Joe

[Tedzed1]

Go on Joe, get a nice PE80, 12 SW bands:D

[AlanBeckett]

Paul,
6095 isn't divisible by 9
Alan

[Joe]

PE80s don't look bad to me but have about twice as many valve as necessary which are all potential problems. Are EL41s as prone to leaks as UL41s? They've got two of the blighters.

It's always struck me as a bit odd how Pye put multiple SW bands on their sets in preference to VHF. Did they think the latter was a passing fad?

My P224 has 3 SW bands plus MSW (whatever that may be) but the hum would be likely to drown the signal out.

Yes Alan, I suppose it is a bit of a "pirate" frequency, I agree it does not match the 9kHz spacing on many radios.

[AlanBeckett]

100kW is a pretty powerful Pirate
Perhaps someone forgot to pay the Electric bill.
