McFee keeps sending me messages?

Its a PC with W10.  Mc wants me to pay money to renew their service that the PC doesnt show I have anyway.

Is it just a try on or something that came in W10 system and is not visable?

I am seeing the same, GMAIL marks them as SPAM.

Just ignore them.

Definitely spam.

Some would argue that you wouldn't want even a legitimate version of McAfee anti-virus software on your PC. I wouldn't use it.

As the others have said it's spam. I've never had McAfee so why would I get messages.
I'd say it's worse than spam it's a con and very dangerous to open these messages.

Gary doesn't mention email, so I wonder if he's getting system messages - I think I had those about McAfee shortly after starting to use a new (Lenovo) PC, reminding me to pay for the McAfee system that was pre-installed and ready to go, or was it to take up a free trial? In any case, they were soon dealt with by using CCleaner to uninstall whatever there was of McAfee and any other programs I knew I didn't want. Doubtless there's also email spam in circulation claiming to be from McAfee as from a multitude of other corporations and authorities - a recent favourite here was one purportedly from the DVLA telling me urgent action was required to avoid losing my driving license, a thing I've never had.

Yes! it was an e-mail and looked very genuine.  I had not intention of paying up as Defender seems pretty good and I also have a bought version of Malwarebytes which was recommended by a Microsoft eng.

He said it was good and better to have two checks.  It seems no bother:  dont  remember if its caught anything

My understanding is that if you install another AV product such as Malwarebytes, AVG, Avast etc then Defender understands this and switches itself off. Installing multiple AV products can cause trouble, they have a reputation for fighting like ferrets in a sack.

Possible a good understanding Jefferey; it might well be true.

I tried looking at W10 Control Panel and Status of Defender but all that comes up is a never ending 'hour glass' so that surely must be indicative of it not running. No way to prove it without removing Malwarebytes which I dont want to do at this time. If you only have Defender in place could you try checking Status and see if you get a meaningful answer?

I'd be rather miffed with all this hassle.
I do use Windows 10 in one PC and 11 in an HP machine but both are dual boot with Linux Mint 20.3 una. The regular Kernel updates keep track of securely, It doesn't need virus protection or malware stuff and in my 13 years of Mint only once did I have a problem that was entirely my fault.
Windows seems to need all these add ons that would do my head in. I have no links to bank or other thing on Windows and don't use a browser either. That is left for Linux. I copy videos from YouTube via Linux and transfer to Windows for my 405 line generation.
