It seems to a problem with Russian valves crossing the equator; presumably they don't like being upside down!

Hi Rod.
That comment made me chuckle. My wife is Kenyan and her dad lives just outside Nyahururu which is on the equator, I think I'll send him a Russian rectifier and get him to test it both sides of the equatorial line. I know that even within 3 meters of the line water will spin the opposite direction down a pipe even at that short distance from the line, so that's good enough for me!

However playing catch or pouring tea at a distance from the cup on a spinning space station wheel would require massive practice.

Most folk are sceptical Michael, I was until I saw it on a what's app video and Judy's Dad confirmed it who is a retired teacher. Will be able to see it myself in a few short months.

Got a PM 5AR4 new 20 quid, so far no discernible difference from Mullard. Time will tell. P.S. this equator plug hole thing is a myth, stir the fluid which way you want and it will continue in that direction.

Hoping not too OT, but I remember over 50 years ago an article about the plughole water, I think on "About Anglia" regional 6pm tv programme. I mentioned to my physics teacher the next day that depending on which way the water had started rotating, my experiment showed that it continued in the same direction. He agreed.
I still didn't come top of class! Rob |
