internal speaker wiring

Can anyone please recommend what type of wire is suitable for the internal wiring of tweeters, drivers etc to crossovers/terminals within hifi speakers?

Any old bit of wire Rob will do to be honest. Obviously flexible wire is better due to vibration, most speakers manufacturers use/used bog standard parallel twin, IE cheap and cheerful.

The wire that's in the speakers I'm dealing with seems to be far too thick are a massive for the internal connections.im sure they have used external speaker leads???

In a short run like inside a speaker cabinet the Cross sectional area of the cables is not so relevant. Long runs yes due to losses. Don't let Audiofoolery take over and fit oxygen free titanium coated gold plated cables with space x insulation be a requirement. I've seen 1.5mm stranded cables used inside top end speakers which like I say perfect inside a cabinet, you need a degree of flexibility as vibration on thick cables can crack soldered joints etc.

I am certain that these speakers (its the Mission 770s) have been fitted with external cable and its nigh on impossible to solder these correctly onto the internal connections.

I had some 770's the older sort and have some 720's, the latter being Mission's top of the range speakers, they have wire about 1.5mm (total diameter)as Trev says. Think about it, there is high current going to the woofers but as Trev says, over a short distance. Wires to tweeters don't need to be thick, again, a tweeter needs hardly any current. If you've ever taken a speaker voice coil apart this will give you a hint.

I'd use some decent stranded copper wire, about 0.5 - 1mm copper diameter, I've got some if you want a yard chucking in the post.
