125ohm resistor

Hi all
Checking through the parts for my amp project has a 125R resistor. I am using 0.5watt carbon resistors (unless higher wattage - see pic) - I don't recall this value in any of the E series. I assume I will be ok to replace this with a 120R but it just seems a strange and specific value?

It'll probably be fine, but a link to (or an extract of) the circuit might help us judge if it's in any way critical. It might even be a typo, of course.

To put it in perspective, 125R is about 4% greater than 120R. If you're designing circuits that need that sort of accuracy you'll be using 2% or 1% tolerance parts. In my professional work I've used 1% parts for everything except some high power jobs. They are cheap enough not to worry about.

Most valve amp circuits have resistors of 10% tolerance so if the 125 ohm wasn't a typo it could read anything from 118.75 to 131.25 ohms, this puts it in the correct perspective, remember also in many valve radios and amps the resistors go way out of tolerance and they can still perform very well.

Even in E192 series there is 124 and 126 - neatly avoiding 125
