Great progress today with all power supplies tested, sound and vision present, time bases running and EHT present. Just awaiting the frame transformer then full test with CRT.

Hi.
Bad news today I'm afraid.
I decided to fit an audio output transformer instead of the frame output transformer as it hasn't turned up as yet. So I removed the CRT from the carton and noticed the getter was milky, that wasn't a good thing to see. I had given the tube a cursory inspection on arrival and did notice the expanded polystyrene had been pushed well in by the end of the gun. In reality I didn't think it would have damaged the tube, plus it was all delivered to me at 23:00 so too late to properly look. So I fitted the CRT anyway only to be rewarded by a purple glow in the CRT gun.
I don't have an MW22-7 or any 9 inch round CRTs to carry on any further.
Very disappointed.

Oh dear It was going so well and you had commissioned transfomer rewinds.

I don't have any 9" round CRTs to spare but might be worth talking to David Boynes or John Wakely.

David has a couple but they are well down. I'll speak to Bob over here in Sorn, his health is such that he has no interest in the hobby now and I do remember we got a few from Joe Urban in Anstruther when we cleared the shop, so there might be something that'll do. Failing that John Wakely might help.

Hi.
Fortunately the owner has access to another MW22-7 it's in another set. I'm hoping to at least borrow one so I can check out my work.
If not I can use an MW6/2 using its own deflection coils and focus coil. A lash up yes but I'm pretty used to things like this. The MW6/2 will easily run at 5KV and give good on screen brightness so although far from ideal at least I can do a test. It's a very last resort though.

Hi.
The rewound frame transformer was fitted today and the deflection coils removed from the gassed CRT. I can confirm that we have good drive to the coils from both time bases.
Tomorrow or Saturday I'm going to collect an MW22-7. I've no idea if it's good or bad so we need to wait and see.
