Hi all!

Couple of corrections, spell check got at one of my posts,  my uke is a Kala, 20 fret acacia bodied concert model, not a Kuna. My friend Grace bought it from Duke of Uke in London.

Also having seen Lawrence's video links, I will correct myself and say..... I can't play the Gibbo' sitting down!!! (But then I'm no S.R.V. either!). Mum said that Brian Tatler, (Diamondhead) another 'V' owner was also able to play one well, sitting.

Dad played a bit but had damaged his left hand when he was in his teens, he was trying to stop a speeding lump of tarmac hitting his face after he detached from his motorcycle,  his description, not mine. He tried to learn left handed, but unlike Albert King, he restrung his guitars.

Bit tired after the hanging around and the trip, great to see Grace again, been five months. Did see the meteor shower, that was impressive, I am NOT impressed by LA yet, but I was introduced to Kieffer Sutherland in the restaurant where we had lunch today, Grace said I was cool about it, but I really didn't know who he was! Nice guy though. Grace had some part in a show called Designated Survivor, that he starred in, (never heard of that either!)

This poxy phone won't connect up with the WiFi in Grace's "mom's" apartment so roaming charges may well wipe my prepay contract.

We're doing HP world tomorrow. So I hope later I can get some connectivity and I can alienate my few friends at home through jealousy at the photos I intend to send them.

Hi Amie, sounds like you're having a great time. If your connectivity is poor/expensive just save up all your thoughts and pictures for when you get back.

Diamondhead, there's a band from the past, probably still gigging though, think I saw them at Derby assembly rooms. Can't remember the guitarist at all but your old dear even knows his name, amazing. Bet she's the sort who knows what's on rare white label B sides or who played nose flute on the rare pink vinyl re-pressing of Transcendental Transmogrification Blues by Bob Doom and the Slick City Vagabonds from 1972. Knew a bloke like that once, used to win all the pub quizzes but he did own a record shop.

Digressing again, coffee kicking in, always amazed at folk playing left handed after injury or after cutting ends of fingers off like Tony Iommi or even better the one handed drummer out of Def Leppard, fair play to em.

Unless you are talking about something I don't know about, the reason that white labels were rare is that they were the pre-release copies that were sent to radio stations and DJs. They also has a big red letter A on one side, for obvious reasons!

Otherwise they were identical to the pretty coloured ones that were sold to the punters.

Mum actually knows/has worked with Brian Tatler, on a television documentary. Diamondhead were touring eighteen years before she was born though! Otherwise, I don't think she's a Rock savant particularly.

Dads old guitar, a EVH Peavey is still here, still strung upsidedown with controls missing. Mum never liked it much but won't be rid of it. He didn't loose any fingers, but cut through the tendons in his ring and little finger, and couldn't close his hand properly even after an operation to repair them. He never was really successful in relearning, though he even tried one of those "guitar wizard" aluminium thingies to do the fret fingering for him, playing right handed.

Yes Jeffrey, I do know his music, want to see the biopic someday too, sometimes I can get a continental radio station in the evenings here that plays a lot of blues and jazz oriented music, he seems to get a regular airing.

Oh, and Mr Sutherland is apparently now in the UK doing a concert as I write, he's a singer songwriter as well as an actor it seems, good for him! That series he was in has just been cancelled my friend told me.
