ITT-KB Tiny33.

Found this rather bashed up ITT-KB Tiny 33 during a clearout in the shop.
Fix it or bin it?
Carrying handle is missing.

Its a bit tatty but they are excellent little radios when working.

Hi Mike,
The Tiny 33 works very well on VHF/FM but not so good on the AM bands. Sensitivity is poor and a lot of background hiss. Might be that the waveband switch contacts need cleaning.
The receiver requires four AA cells. For the tests a 6.2volt Pace digibox power supplier was used.
Now we know the set works I'll go ahead and tidy up the cabinet.

It should work fine on AM, they are one of my favourite radios.
As the front grille is rather tatty, if you are thinking of keeping it to use, you should be able to remove ALL the worn painted on wood grain by rubbing with meths, but dont clean the ITT-KB Tiny 33 badge or that will disappear as well.
They can look quite smart all black with gold trim..

It is much rarer than the more common wood grain grille.

That set top box wart will not do the AM signal any good at all.
Try it again on batteries before bothering with anything else.

Good advice. I'm using a spare 996 battery as the 6volt power source and the reception on the medium waveband is excellent.

AM sets do hiss and spit when you put them close to anything to do with digital electronics.
