It is indeed a 2 pin DIN as commonly used for loudspeakers at one time. I've also seen them on wall warts for low voltage lights. In particular some from Ikea.

If the connector I showed in post#30 is a din it must be an early one that does not fit the later type.
I have a second cable mounted socket that looks like it would fit a plug with one of both pins rotated thru 90 degrees however it is not in such good condition.
On modern 2-pin DIN connectors one pin is round.
Another photo is called for.

My apologies. It isn't a 2 pin DIN. It's a 2 pin Painton. I have some. I can't remember where I've seen it used.

My other comments about 2 pin DIN are correct afaik.

Not a mains connector this time but has anyone come across these High Voltage connectors before?

They are Belling Lee L623/P and L623/S for the plug and socket respectively.

Did they come in different colours?

Does anyone have old Belling Lee or Bulgin catalogues they no longer require? I would be happy to scan them and post them up on here.
