But that's not 100% guaranteed, espeically where a TLA has many possible meanings.

I have noticed the term CCI used frequently in this thread, I couldnt work it out and had to look it up.

I suppose I ought to put my hand up for that but, in my defence, in post #11 I said:

However, in post #16, having already introduced the subject, I thought it would be safe to use the abbreviation:

I jumped in my car at 8.15 this morning, completely forgetting the radio was still tuned to 648kHz - and there was Caroline, loud and clear! (Well, perhaps a little mush if the truth be told.) Certainly no trace of CCI.

To me, ICE in this context, stands for 'In-Car-Entertainment', a blanket term for Car radios, Stereos, Tape & CD players, etc.

Honestly, please don't worry about it!

The use of technical acronyms on a technical forum are quite allowed. By all means qualify it if you fear it might be one of the less well-known ones, but we're all grown ups with an internet connection, and it takes virtually no effort to select the acronym in question and then do a right-click, followed by Search Google for ""

I was once chastised for using "NFF" in a thread where the context was completely clear. I was made to feel bad because someone didn't know an acronym that is actually very common in engineering parlance, and given that I was patently having a tough time with the problem under discussion, the lack of empathy wasn't exactly welcome (and came as a bit of a surprise, frankly).

In our rules we have asked that people try to avoid "TXT-SPEK", but there's absolutely no problem with technical acronyms, nor well-known "web acronyms" like "FYI", "AFAIK", "YMMV", etc

As for NFF, I assume 'No Fault Found'. When I first started work, a common one for service calls was NFATOC - No fault at time of call.

It was coming in quite clear & almost listener-able a few minutes ago on this cold & snowy morning, but it's now gone back down into the mush. Tuned back to Gold on 999 Khz while I decide what to scoff for breckies...

Have tried three receivers, an Eddystone 659, an Eddystone 670A and the Pilot X65B. Each receiver was connected in turn to the tuned medium frame wave frame aerial. Sorry to report no results whatsoever. The tuning scales of the Eddystone receivers are calibrated in kilohertz and curiously the American made Pilot is in metres. I assume that Radio Caroline wavelength is 462.9 metres = c/f, where c is 300,000 and f is 648Kc/s.
Nevertheless, I will keep trying to receive the new station and will report my findings in due course.
