Hi Jeffrey,

That's interesting too but it doesn't look like the same camera with the cover removed. That said, the camera on the dolly has a fairly short electron gun assembly so I could imagine that and the "lens" assembly contained in the case in the second photo. The spherical bulb suggests EMI influence rather than RCA.

Hi.

I have put the project into a cabinet on a temporary basis, the cabinet is another story but at this time I'm not able to go into details right now.
I also attached a Fresnel lens to the front with Blu Tac, granted its like a 14 inch but the larger image makes the flicker look far worse, perhaps the reason the Decca 1000 with a 60 inch picture looks really odd.
Here is a few pictures of it in the cabinet and through the lens....... 180 lines.

It's interesting seeing the initial and after glow colours of the phosphor. What was your camera shutter speed?

Hi Peter.
Unfortunately the camera was on "Auto" so no idea of the shutter speed, it did come up with F 3.8 but that's pretty irrelevant I'm sure. To be fair the camera is now 10 years old with a 5MP CCD, decent enough lens although even with Macro close up's are a bit de-focussed.

The Tube is dual Phosphor, blue and yellow.

When you look at the image properties it's sometimes possible to see the exposure settings even though the camera operates in an automatic mode.

The old trick of blinking fast or moving your hand quickly up and down the screen with show up some green banding, a bit odd as its blue/yellow Phosphors.

I was curious about the transition between the initial and after glow. In your 1/24 the photos it's amazingly sharp. Your latest slower shutter photos are also strange. The auto white balance has adjusted on the yellow after glow but shows a blue periphery.

Hi Peter.
This tube is odd. If you look at the rear of the screen through a part of the bulb with no internal coating the image is bright blue, there is as well a blue halo all around the edge of the screen, I also think there is a slight amount of ion burning as the centre looks more green with also a very small central ion burn that sometimes is hard to see. I think the focus is a bit astigmatic as well, repositioning of the magnets makes it worse as it seems to be at its best position. The tube of course specifies a focus coil.
To be fair less the lens the picture is pretty good on stills but rubbish on any movement, even setting the focus has to be done in little steps.
I'll do a picture of the afterglow later on.
