Supersonic Conquest radio's PR80 and PR80C

Hello, i posted about these Supersonic radio's on another topic thread and figured i would make a thread about them, here's two old Supersonic radio's I have made by Chassy Bros, the PR80 is the original model that came out in 64 with unique transformers on the audio output amp, while the later PR80C came out in 65 and it is the later non transformer version,Here's a pics of both

Here's the PR80 by itself,it was discovered in recent years that the famous Deacy amp is the audio output amp from a PR80.



Here's the later Supersonic PR80C which is the later non transformer version



Both the PR80 and and PR80C say made in S Rhodesiia on the back of the radio,here's the PR80:


Also the PR80 has a sticker inside,I'm presuming that Spiegel was a distriibutor in the US.:




The PR80C i got a few years back on the bay  and it never worked nor did the PR80 that i got at a swap meet, I did get the Audio circuits working on both though,I mainly got the PR80C for looks  as a display and the PR80 for the audio output  Module,here a replica of the PR80 audio board

I've seen pics of the PR80C on a forum and I was curious how either sound with the radio circuit working? The  audio output  circuit on the PR80 sounds warmer whereas the PR80C sounds brighter and not the same, not sure why Chassy bros changed it maybe to cut cost? Does anyone else have one of these that works? I will probably get the radios circuits working in both sometime.

Very rare vintage radios (in the UK) are being destroyed in the pursuit of making these little "less than 1 watt" guitar amps.
I have first hand experience of random people contacting me via my website and offering 500euro and up to 1000euro for some of my radios which contain the same amplifier board.
I have finally got to the bottom of how all this started and I totally disapprove of destroying a radio to make a tiny guitar amp.

Its a fad craze not un-similar to the audiophoolery that you hear about. In my view it should not be welcomed on a vintage radio forum.

I totally agree Mike, I'm not surprised by people offering you a lot. I made my own audio board from mine rather than ruin the radio and someday i plan on fixing the radio's and they're not for sale for the audio board or it.

I agree about not pulling a radio apart for the audio stages.
Two mains transformers can easily be used with video output transistors from old CRT computer screens.
The power can be fiddled so that you can get 1W from batteries or 5W from mains with a diode gated bias.

It appears that my images were not showing up so here's a reply showing the images in my original post for those who would like to see them. I will be posting more images and gut shots of the Supersonic PR80 and PR80C on my website with I put out the output audio amplifier of the PR80.  Many have asked me for transformer's and the specs but I will be putting out an exact replica for those who want the sound without having to ruin old radio's hoping they will give the tone.

One thing I found interesting in the Supersonic PR80 is the battery holder which holds 6  D size batteries, Out of Curisousity does anyone know if simular radio's like  the KB KR016 or the KB KR026 have this same battery holder that's removable inside of them? Thanks. Here's 2 pics of it next to my Supersonic PR80.
