Honda Civic 2 tracking ?

On the MOT of this 15 plate car they found the drivers side tyre was worn on the inside, a strip about 35 mm wide.  There is no pull from the steering wheel at all.

So now I need to get it 4 wheel laser tracked. 

The tyres have only done 15,000 miles and was wondering is it best to diagonally swap the front and back wheels so that effectively the car is on a more level stance, so to speak?

Switching tyres around will average out the uneven wear but you really shouldn't have uneven wear to start with. It definitely indicates incorrect setup.

Don't tyres these days have a direction of rotation marked on them?

I don't know what happens if you put them on 'backwards' or if it would be an MOT fail but it might be better just to do a front/rear swap on each side.

As the front tyres wear much faster than the rear with front wheel drive, so long as the worn tyre is still legal, putting it on the rear will give it a longer life before it needs replacing.

Obviously, you will have to have the tracking error fixed first!

Good point so need to check for rotation marks first. If they have them swap front to back on the same side only. If not then they can be done diagonally. This is from the handbook.

Seems a good idea to do this first before the tracking as the vehicle, at least for the front, would be standing on the ground squarely. Trying to get advice on this from other sources.

Lots of issues like this on the Rover 75. The main advice is to replace the worn tyre before the four wheel tracking is done.
It begs the question, has it been kerbed, or hit a pothole?
Also get a reputable garage with the 4 wheel laser tracking equipment to do it, some of the tyre fitting outlets can get this wrong and your tyre wear can get worse.

One of the recommended outlets on the Rover forum. Snag with the Rover is their age and rusty adjustment bolts I'm sure your Honda will be OK in that way though.
