I just printed this off. I am used to the basic 1950's valve schematics so, really, this is a bit over my head. It's a Riga 103 which is supposed to be pretty similar to the Astrad Auriga or Solar. For a start it's too small printed out for me to see hardly. Apart from that I seem to have a bad cold so am not feeling my best.
Looks a bit complicated but I can just make out one or two transistors mentioned by Miguel earlier on.
Valve radio schematics so much easier for me, especially the very early models.

Some more professional / military / Amateur valve sets are just as complicated.

When I have that problem, with a very compact schematic, I zoom (+) it on the PC and use the Print Screen key, then I paste the capture on any graphic editor (usually Power Point), and then I print it by sections.

The problem here is I'm used to the basic 1930's to 1950's valve schematics. These are very standard circuits with Mixer, IF amplifier, Double diode and output. Gain control is used but these are seldom that complicated. There wasn't even any printed circuit involved so, at the moment, I don't feel I have any problem at all understanding 1950's valve schematics, or indeed radios.

Nevertheless, once we get into PCB boards and FM boards on Philips valve radios or German makes, I must admit I feel the strain a bit. Also, looking at this Riga diagram I must confess I haven't got a clue. I've only recently gotten used to segmented American diagrams where they would split the valve in the diagram. For example, showing the oscillator circuit apart from the mixer (both as if distinct valves).

This diagram feels a bit advanced for me at present but can anyone suggest which one (of the three) is the best? The good thing about the early 1950's valve sets is the whole schematic would be just one basic diagram with a commentary for each stage.

Not a lot of difference from valves except that transistors are used, the switchery is usually the killer when trying to figure out what's what, easiest way is to highlight the circuit path with a marker for the tuning coils/capacitors and the respective switch contacts for the band selected, if you just gorpe at it then that's all you'll ever do.

Te deseo un feliz y prospero año nuevo, Miguel. Christmas in Cuba must be very different as I assume there are no Winters. Here I never seem to handle the cold that well and lack of sun. In the north of Spain it gets cold too although you only get snow in the mountains. Very close by where I lived in the mid 90's was Miguel Indurain's small town and he was then Tour De France champion. The big regions around were San Sebastian and then Pamplona and Zaragoza.

Christmas in Cuba must be very different as I assume there are no Winters.

We had High Summer (27 - 35 °C) and Low Summer (16 - 27 °C). We are now in Low Summer........did you said "Winter"? What's that?

In Spain the custom is to eat 12 grapes at New Year.

In Quivicán we burn a "muñecón" representing the leaving year. Most families do that. At my home town La Salud, the "muñecón" is one for the whole town and everybody comes to see the burning with music and costumes. See

In northern Spain they have giants for carnival during the fiestas. So, it's similar. However where I lived the two languages were Castellano and Euskera. Of course this was 1990's and seems a long time ago. I've never been to Cuba but you are lucky to have good weather.
