Hi Sam, I think there was an article in Radio Bygones about their restoration few years ago, including some detail on the motor drive mech

Thank you Lawrence, that is the one I have which is incomplete. Seems to be the only one.
Thank you Ed, I will try to find the copy. Sam.

Ed, did you ever find the article and the issue? Then the question is does anyone have a copy? Shockingly I have realised that I have nearly 200 radios, many that need restoration. The HMV 1200 is one that is working reasonably well but will need final fettling and the cabinet restoring. I have searched high and low for a complete schematic without success. Sam.

Hi Sam, not sure which edition hopefully another forum member may know. There may also have been an article in Radiophile.
In one of them there were details of remaking contacts Cheers, Ed

Hi Sam, there's a receiver profile for the Marconiphone equivalent, model No 800, in the Radiophile issue No 82.
I can send you the manufacturer's schematic if you need a copy. Steve

Thank you Steve, I would appreciate a copy, the ones I have found are incomplete. The later part refers to the Ekco motor tuned which is completely different of course!
I will send you my email address in a PM. Sam.

I picked up a Marconiphone 880 at the last Wooton Basset auction. I wasn't supposed to be acquiring any more AM only receivers due to the imminent closure of BBC R4 LW, as I listen almost exclusively to BBC R4 and R3, but having a mechanical/electrical engineering background I couldn't resist a motor tuned set with a reasonable cabinet and described as "working". I haven't done anything with it, other than gently power it on and try the motor tuning, which appears to work. Seeing your posts may encourage me to queue jump it and have a play during the next week.
I searched the Radio Bygones index: https://nzvrshome.files.wordpress.com/20...ndexes.pdf for HMV 1200 and Marconiphone 880 with no success so I guess that the relevant article is that mentioned by Steve and in Radiophile 82. I do have most issues of Radiophile so will have a look. Rod

Mine works well, I think the AFC control is not as sharp as it should be.
The cabinet has lost its veneer off the rounded horizontal part under the glass tuning scale otherwise it is in good order. The circuit diagram is supposedly available from several sources but everyone I have found is incomplete and corrupted with the Ekco version which is nothing like the HMV/Marconi set.
