download file shredding software

My almost new Acer V11 Touch is hopeless and is going back for credit.
So I need to shred all my files and passwords first.
Can you advise a good free program that will totally obliterate my  files in Windows 10?

Thanks for that Terry. Good info.
In the meantime, I have spent some time on the net and think I know what is wrong with this computer besides it being junk.
By backing up everything, deleting all apps and bits I have downloaded, then using ccleaner followed by a full reset, I've got the wifi working. Its a know bug so why didn't Acer fess up and tell me?
Ccleaner took 6+hours to clear all blank and deleted sectors!
Now I just have to reload 7 months worth of pictures, downloads and programs,  that will take a while too.
Its still going back for credit, the touch pad is falling into the wrist rest.
Not going to denigrate Acer but I will not have another and this is my 3rd, the earlier ones are fine.

The quickest way I know of wiping a hard drive is to use a Linux live CD to load Linux using all the space.
Then Put windows back on again using all of the space.

Has a shred facility but you can just delete the encrypted files. Personal details on this PC are encrypted with it, been using it for years and it has been 100% reliable.

Loading Ubuntu is probably not an option, this box of sand will not load from USB and there is no DVD drive.

I feel like doing that to the whole computer. Both this one and my friends, same model, are trouble. His is going back to Acer for repair, I don't think I will accept a repair. So far I have spent 2 long days getting it to work and still every time I turn it on it can't find the wifi and I have to run the diagnostics a few times before it will wake up.
7 months old and useless, not a good advert is it?

Tried Kruptos2 but it stuffed the computer until I uninstalled it. Will have to search further.
Does the microsoft program in Windows 10 do a proper job?

Hi.
Do a full restore, that will give you a clean install. Unless you have things on the pc that are of a sensitive nature I wouldn't worry. Unless things have changed Dixon's/PC World will do a full format and reinstall the OP system.
