Removing CDR2005 stereo from Vauxhall Nova

How is this done?  Having removed the allen screws from the 4 access holes for removal tools, I then, using a pair of 'double width' keys (RRK-110/RW-RK06) bought from 'RadioWorld', inserted the keys till they locked in place, but no matter what i did, I couldn't pull out the radio, which needs to be removed in order to replace a faulty volume control (rotary encoder). Over the past 30-35 years I must have removed hundreds of radios in order to repair or replace them, and seldom had any difficulty in so doing, using the correct 'U' shaped hooks .  Does anyone know why these  Vauxhall Stereos cannot be removed?  I appreciate that we're talking anti-theft devices here, so if anyone wishes to PM me with an answer, rather than publish it on an open forum, please feel free to do so!

On the few occasions I've had to remove a radio it's been the type which you place the wire hoops in either side, then when the hoops are pushed fully home, you lever them to the sad and pull the radio forward, rather like in this video with the Corsa:

I don't know what the Nova looks like, - I guess maybe the radio is styled into the dashboard and possibly there are some trims that first need to be removed, such as with the Insignia:

Quite a palaver - not something I'd want to tackle!

Halfords fit radios 'while you wait' so I wonder if your local Halfords would whip it out for you for a fiver or whatever?

I guess you've look on the Vauxhall forums - nothing there that I can see - questions yes, but answers - no.

Actually, the vehicle in question is a Vauxhall Corsa, not a Nova. I was asked by someone who knew I had worked in car audio repair if I coud do it, and simply assumed it would just be a case of 'insert the removal keys until they lock in place, then pull!' Not so in this case!!

Hmmm, he makes it look easy in the Corsa video at the link above. He just pushed the wire hoops in, pressed them to the left and right and pulled the radio out in the usual manner.

Not done one of these but I have found that you need to press the radio into the dash as you push in and lever the release tools apart sometimes.  The plastic tends to exert too much pressure for the clips to disengage.

some of them are seriously tight I use to decode a few radios on the really bad ones I would either need to put my fingers in the cassette slot to get some extra leverage or use A pry tool round the edge  but make sure the extractor tools are fully in as they push back the 4 locking tabs

note some times the only way was to leaver the cage out with the radio and then part them on the bench

This has now been succesfully removed from the car, but there is another problem, which is that I am unable to remove the front panel assembly from the rest of the stereo to replace a defective volume control (Rotary Encoder). The panel appears to be held in place by 4 plastic clips and is plugged to the main PCB, but I fear that if I press too hard on the clips, something will break. Anyone know how to remove the front panel of one of these??
