How to remove the Adverts from the Yahoo E-Mail pages?

Since I switched to Google Chrome as my browser, there are always adverts included in the Yahoo E-Mail pages (Inbox, Sent Items, Spam, Trash, etc.)  These are in the form of Display Ads alongside the content, and as Advertising emails at the top of each list.  How can I permanently disable  these messages, which seem to slow down the process, and sometimes cause other problems?  I never used to get adverts on Yahoo when using Firefox as my browser.

Install Adblock.

Click the three horizontal lines at the top right corner, then Settings, Extensions, Get More Extensions.  

Type AdBlock into the search box.

Look for this logo (though it won't have the "Added" stripe).

   

Click Add to Chrome.

I've done as you suggested, Joe, but there is no 'extensions' tab in the 'Settings' menu. I am now in the process of installing 'Adblock plus for Chrome'. It's currently 'checking', what for I know not

It isn't a Tab as such, just the word Extensions at the left-hand side.

   

AdBlock Plus should do what you want fine anyway.  I prefer AdBlock as you can set it to get rid of other junk that isn't strictly-speaking adverts, things like "Other people looked at..." on e-Bay.

For some reason 'Adblock Plus for Chrome is still 'checking' some 10 minutes later. As to what I called a 'tab', that may be the wrong terminology, but there is still no 'extensions' facility in the 'settings' menu

That is plain odd.

Try typing chrome://extensions/ into the address bar.

Incidentally, Adblock and Adblock Plus are 2 different things. They both do the same job but I use Adblock Plus and these comparisons seem to confirm my choice.

I don't know if Ghostery is available for chrome but I use it with Firefox to remove a number of other nuisances. It's not totally transparent, it blocks some wanted stuff occasionally, but can always be selectively or temporarily disabled if necessary.

I googled chrome;//extensions/, located Adblock Plus, but, after over an hour, during which time the PC sometimes went into Standby, The system is still 'Checking', what for I know not

I've just tried to install 'Ghostery' , and get the same 'Checking' answer.
