These are the closest yet to a strip light replacement from Aldi.
I bought one earlier this week for £7 and this evening tested and installed it.
They have an extruded aluminum housing with the ballast pressed inside via the end making them some of the best AM friendly LED lamps on the market. They are rated at 10.5W and judging by my installation two or three of them could be used to replace an old 4 foot strip light. The light colour is very good but do check the logo on the box as there may be others on display in store.
There is a cabling system provided allowing several to be powered from a single cable. This is based on the humble ghetto blaster detachable type mains connector. The 13A end is rewireable for passing through woodwork if needed.
Testing was done with several AM radios and only a very minimal amount of hash was detectable around the ends of the LED strip with a small germanium transistor set that only has a short ferrite rod. A TR82 and a French set with there longer rods could not detect any hash at all as not enough of the aerial could be got close enough to the ends of the strip.
The mountings are a little bit of a sloppy fit and they can slip off the keyhole screws. Fitting grommets under the screw heads to provide a bit of resistance to them sliding off is well advised.
The LED strip feels a little bit light weight to the touch but is adjustable through a good angle.
They are overall quite a respectable product.
