Of course there had to be a hiccup.  The new logo came for a different model and the pins were further apart than my original.  So, after a few nervous minutes drilling some new holes it came out looking OK.

Bajazzo restore now finally complete - hurray!

I've attached some before and after.   I also put it beside my latest acquisition.  The new one is great for messing about.  The old one is best for listening enjoyment!

Hi John,

I've just read this thread, having missed it in the past. I must say that you've done an amazing job with that set - especially the grille. But on the downside, reading such write-ups always makes me feel sad for not making time for my own collection!

I do have a couple of Telefunken sets, but these are transistors. They don't look like the easiest of things to work on, to put it mildly. You could say the same about a lot of German sets - in my experience, at least. Still, they are excellent performers, especially on FM.

Thanks Mark, yes this one was a particular test but the electronics were fine - just the cab was completely shot. I guess there's never enough time for our hobby so we grab some time when we can. Thanks again for all the hard work with the forum upgrade - works a treat!

Why don't pictures display in gallery tab from in the new layout? I have to close one and then open the next one or id it something I have miseed?

Hi Gary,

This is something that is on my to-do list. What you're presently seeing is the default behaviour for MyBB.

The previous behaviour was provided by a 3rd-party "plugin" which isn't compatible with this version of MyBB. Also, a lot of the bugs experienced before the update were caused by 3rd-party plugins, which is why we did a "clean" reinstall of the software rather than a standard upgrade. Much more info within this this thread.

So anyway, based on previous experience with 3rd-party plugins, we're being a lot more careful about which ones we use, and because they don't uninstall cleanly, we're not just "trying them out" on the off-chance they might be OK. I will trial possibilities on a "sandbox" installation on my home server, and once we've found the right one, it'll be added to the forum. Hopefully within a couple of weeks, depending on what's out there...

Again, the "thanks/like" functionality was provided by a 3rd-party plugin.

The forum software already has a very similar function: "Reputation". Under each post, you can click on "Rate", and then you'll be able to explain why you liked that particular post.

Having done that, everyone can see what you've written, and everyone can follow a link to the post in question. Simply click on the number (in green) next to "Reputation" to see the details. It's simple, but it works well.

Compared to that, the previous "Like" facility didn't seem to provide a way to find out who had "liked" you, and for what. As far as I could tell, it didn't add anything at all to the existing "Reputation" facility - in fact it was worse, because it was impersonal, and it seemed to discouraged people from using the Reputation function. Therefore I have no plans to investigate a replacement.

In short, if you wish to "thank" someone, please use the "Reputation" button
