Spot on David. "Free" invites the vultures in and not only those on low income because many people who are "loaded" are greedy and selfish.
I shop twice weekly at our local Morrison's and Aldi. I take along a shopping list written in order for around the store; I visit Morrison's first going in at 8am when the store opens and my record so far is to be out by 8:12am. Next I drive a couple of hundred yards to Aldi; the car parking at Aldi always seems very tight to me and I only drive an Aygo. In store though David I could not have described Aldi better than you.
The store is always scruffy and appears neglected. Staff are forever blocking the narrow isles with pallets and boxes; lots of items have been placed by a Lancaster; racks holding clothing are a big put off; fresh 1ltr packs of Soya milk are placed seven feet from the ground. the checkouts are hopeless because they are not always open so standing around waiting for staff to shout which checkout to use is a joke.
Aldi is the only place I've ever been expelled from and this was a couple of years ago. I used to visit Aldi first parking and waiting in the car until the store opened at 8am. I had been reading my Screwfix bible one morning when I noticed the store entrance was open so I collected the trolley and strolled into the store being the only customer; a very loud voice bellowed at me saying "We are closed" I had to leave the store but was prevented from doing so until the exit was cleared through the security; by the time I had been so rudely expelled it was after 8am so now the store was "officially" open? I later in the week made a complaint to the store manager about the incident.
Not all items in Aldi are cheaper than Morrison's but many are and I estimate by just driving the extra short distance to Aldi I save at least £500 per year. Aldi now though is becoming a pain to visit even at 8:15am; it's getting crowded and many customers I know to be regular Morrison's customers as I am.
As you rightly say David the center displays in Aldi resemble a jumble sale but this I put down not only to poor management but also to the type of customers Aldi attract; like me for instance? I've no issues with kids at supermarkets as long a the kids are chained and gagged being left outside.
Morrison's staff are more friendly on the whole than Aldi staff but then Aldi staff are virtually temps because they change so frequently. I too see lots of Hi Vis jackets but these are at Morrison's so pay for what they receive but their works vans are usually parked blocking three car parking spaces and some have trailers attached; of course they have equal right to shop and eat as anyone else but parking is difficult at the best of times. There is no easy solution to this?
I would enjoy browsing Aldi tools and workshop kit but the store is so off-putting with customers blocking the isles thinking they are in the middle of a field; its amazing how one such customer can easily block an isle with a single trolley?
Back to the plot; I managed to use our new Wi-Fi connecting the computer to the TV bringing up videos on TV from YouTube; using the computer keyboard is easier to me than using the remote but it does mean the computer needs to be switched on at the same time as the TV but as yet all this is new to me. Now I'm becoming familiar with this new (to me) technology I think I know the reason our Wi-Fi isn't always perfect? The new Virgin router is placed at my feet under my desk; the desk is a heavy pedestal type providing knee access so perhaps this and the wall are blocking the signal to a great extent; behaving much like a valve screening can? I'll check the Virgin cable to see if there is any slack allowing the router to be re-positioned otherwise I'll use the wall plugs.
Its cold here so I've not wandered into the garage but I also want my elbow to return to normal which still troubles me as I get out of bed first thing but the pain does wear off once I'm moving around which is a good sign.
Now what's this Skype and do I need to know about it given my very limited phone use; information please as I'm interested and also anything else I need to know about or upgrade to lift me from my dinosaur position?
