At Rufforth I managed to find some 4BA solder eyelets rather than the more commonplace crimp-on terminals.

Jammy toad! I've been seeking those for ages, or even metric ones would do. Spiratronics have M4 ones but at 11p each they'll be keeping them.

I haven't made much progress this last few weeks due to other commitments and distractions, but at least I've been able to fit the cleaned up and tested IFTs, oscillator coil, tuning cap and drive, a couple of chassis mounted trimmers and, and a couple of rebuilt tagstrips beneath the chassis. It looks tidier than when I first started, and it's at the stage whereby when time permits, I can begin re-wiring. As I said in another thread, the under-chassis layout looks ill thought out, with lots of space at one end and a rats' nest at the other. First three pics are as found - the other two show the stage that it's at now.

Fabulous transformation David; I bet it looks better than when it was new from the factory. Dedication and patience in abundance; very well done. One to keep when completed.

If you think David was jammy finding the solder eyelets at Rufforth Joe you should see the tiny stainless steel rivets I also picked up whilst with David at Rufforth; fortunately David was more awake than I when I asked how much and I was quoted 5p each or 15 for £1? I must be losing the plot but at least I got the rivets I needed for re-attaching the nameplates to the Lorch Lathe.

I've attached a copy of the circuit and the maker's description from which you'll note that it has an inductively coupled bandpass filter. I'm hoping that the bandpass filter unit is intact and working, because if not, the chances of my repairing it are slightly less than zero! It's a mini rat's nest of fine wire and the switch is sealed so you can't clean or lubricate it. I believe that Gary did dismantle one in a Ekco AC97, but he's made of sterner stuff than me!

I took a lot of pics before I dismantled it, and based on Gary's sound advice, I made drawings of the wiring of valveholders and the two tagboards. Before I got in too deep, I soon discovered that pics on their own aren't much use. I've also been writing up what I've done so I don't forget because weeks go by with me not ding anything at it, and as it progresses, it's easy to forget or overlook something. (Well it is for me anyway!).

That's a fascinating Mechanical arrangement David.
Murphy were prone to Double-tuned front ends if I remember rightly.

The double tuning would compensate for the low IF frequency I guess.

Just seen this post - did you get it all finished? Also did it have its original dial lamp? If not did you fit one? I ask as I have just got two of these 1 black 1 brown - both in good working order but no dial lamps
