Hi,
What; no mention of the B&W TV licence topic shown on the 10 o'clock news last night?
Usually when I switch on our TV for the BBC News (601) all I see is someone kicking or knocking a ball around or someone talking about kicking or knocking a ball around and I immediately switch off.
Yesterday though Bron mentioned to me that there was going to be something on the late news about an old telly? After enduring the rubbish first suddenly John (Heatercathodeshort VRF member) appeared discussing old B&W TV's and licence fees of same. Short but very interesting and once over the TV was switched off.
It's possible not everyone on GF is familiar with John but I'd like to praise John for his unstinting input into our hobby. I can't praise John enough because John was key player in my epic Ekco TV restoration together with much appreciated input from many other VRF forum members. John is a true ambassador of our hobby.

Above is the link to the restoration I did and John led me by the hand with great patience whilst I slowly restored this wreck of a chassis which still works to this day and is switched on occasionally.
I'm still a VRF member and recently posted a thread covering soda blasting but in general these days I'm unable to add new threads to VRF because my projects are simply way "off topic" which is a shame because there are a lot of good guys on VRF only too willing like John to go well out of their way to help a novice such as me. Credit where credit is due.
Anyone else see this snippet of news last night?
