Nice, hope they are insured, had an Ibanez copy once, all I have now is a cheap Strat copy, I used to feed that through a Korg Toneworks, never did learn to play it properly, always a regret, I can still just about manage to finger an E7, A7, D7, B7 and a few others, my fingers aren't as agile as they used to be.
Peter Green was good on the Les Paul, he was one of my favourite guitarists.

Gives the circuit, under-chassis layout (indistinct), sound clips, history and evolution of the range, the facelifts the amp went through during the 19 years of its existence and so forth.

Such a simple design, that given a better view of the underside, it would be little more than a weekend's work to replicate the amp itself, (albeit it is patented!).

Both of my son's have expensive guitars and amps to match (don't know the models), but neither of them have any time to play them, nor the level of musical skill or aptitude to do them justice, so really, they're not so much musical instruments as 'possessions'. I blame the parents - I had my BMW motorbike for 14 years. When I bought it, it had 4,500 on the clock - when I sold it, 17,500, so did less than 1,000 miles a year.

I would have thought that tranny amps were better for distortion when over driven.
lots of harmonics and better still lots of intermodulation products all varying with the drive level and frequencies. Auto clipping PSUs could bring a whole new era into Gi...tar amps along with unfiltered class D and E preanp stages.
Back to reality I have seen Fender and Marshall valve amps at the local flea markets on a few occasions with prices between 50 and 120 euros. Maybe I should have a go next time, change a few caps and bung it on Fleebay to make a hefty profit.

So far as I understand it's 2nd harmonic distortion in valve amps that's the key for many electric guitar players?

I think the way its done (most of the time) nowadays is to have a clean power amp and rely on effects boxes (mainly digital) to give the same sound as a vintage valve amp.
