BC221 Calibration..How it was done.....

Ok, here's the link down below to the royal signals articles page, scroll down 'till you come to the article by Joseph Tellier May 1944.

I have just clicked on the link on the said site and the article opens ok with my PDF reader but I notice at the top of the PDF reader page that there is the word "Secure" in brackets, not sure if that's of any relavence, I have not had to use any kind of password or code or anything, hope this helps.

I'm not to happy with this....I hate posting duffers, I like to keep things proper as a defacto reference and for it to do what it says on the tin as it were.

Oh no, Lawrence - you've broken it! Maybe it has something to do with how the link to pdfs was added to the forum code?

Me...I know noorthing...I have to admit that when I posted the original article to the forum that I did not check out the link (as posted) to see if it worked on the forum.

If the file I posted can't be gotten to work then maybe I should replace that file link with the royal signals website page link, that site seems to be the only site that has a copy of the original article although my search for an alternative source wasn't exhaustive.

It looks like the password is still asked for on the royal signals site.
Lawrence you will need to save it in a different format using the software you can view it with.
This should make a copy that can be made back into a PDF file that will work for us.
What are you opening it with?
I might be able to install the software you are using with my windows adapter and get it into a generic PDF from Linux.
At least Linux has told me exactly why it would not open.

I was not asked for or given any password/code on the royalsignals site when I originally downloaded the article or with any downloads I did later, not sure what's going on.

Originally when I first clicked on the article link a message came up saying I needed a later version of Acrobat, as said in an earlier post I download the latest free version from the Acrobat website and once it was downloaded and operative everything opened up ok when I opened the said article from the file on my PC.

I know zilch about computer programs etc, so what did I open it up with? Dunno, I have a screen a keyboard and a mouse, I press buttons and move and click the mouse, if that doesn't work then I skip the website (whatever it may be) and find a site that works, I have had problems with websites when I have been trying to purchase goods online, if the site doesn't open up in a matter of seconds then I take it that they don't want my business and I don't bother with them, same when you get on a fast site if the layout is poor or the road map to what you want to purchase is poor or they start asking loads of dumb questions....I'm digressing...I shouldn't.

Anyway back to the problem, I posted another link for another site that has the said article in my previous post, it works for me, anyone else tried it?

Although I am generally modern computer dumb I have been using them and the internet since 1994 and the two things that I have always noticed that persistantly give problems is:

a) Computers and printers insofar that even today they have trouble communicating with each other, how hard can it be...

b) PDF documents, either can't/wont open, won't print, can't save etc....how hard can that be...

I'm sure I'm not alone.

I have just tried the first download link and it works for me when I use Foxit PDF as my default pdf reader. It is free and has never given me pronlems.
