Seemed a lot of tech to add to a valve osc for SW! Certainly not what the valve purists would do.

It looks like an add on extra for a modern set to me and also the enthusiast will also need a PIC programmer like the one in the picture. The vintage plug on the power unit being optional.

Seems you get a built kit for £33.
Been used in several SW receivers http://www.cumbriadesigns.co.uk/x-lock_solutions.htm but prob solid state Gary

I guess it would work with a valve osc ok, after all a tuned circuit is a tuned circuit, my initial thoughts were towards a synchrodyne receiver for SSB/CW/AM using a valve osc.
