What did you do about the missing and the broken knobs? There was enough left of the broken one to give a good idea what it was like. Luckily (strange really) the tuning knob had survived intact along with the glass and surround. It's really odd which bits had survived undamaged when other parts were completely smashed.. Nice slow motion on the tuning gearing. Really looking forward to seeing pics of it all complete and running on a nice side table. Doily and plant pot optional

luckily 60oldjohn had some knobs that were in keeping, but not the same as the originals, he is now on the case for something more in keeping.

Thats good.. lucky there is enough left of the broken one to give a reasonable pattern match. They are quite plain for 30's and I suppose the instructions told people the function.. that is if the remains are the original.

The dial is not best ever but hopefully 60oldjohn is getting a scan of his dial so I can make a better one.

As it stands I only know of three of these, anyone got any more detail as to how many were made or exist?

hi mark , thats absolutly astounding, wit all the detail so far ive become confused as to the range is there short wave as well?the knobs look quite in keeping with the period , wonder would the originals have resembeled the tuning knob

It looks fantastic.. Odd there was no power switch fitted originally. My parents had an early 50''s bakelite Philco which had a cable hanger switch as well, but for reason of the one inside the tone control being iffy . Have you used the original switch that was in the mains lead or a safe modern replacement?.. looked all original to me.

I'm still finding it hard to believe it's the same set.. except the knock on the back top corner gives it away. Must be worth a few bob now.. very rare beast indeed. Great restore.
