That sounds like a contradiction David, it can't be omnidirectional in a fixed position, the rotator can rotate the antenna in any direction through 360 degrees so yes any direction but the antenna is not omnidirectional if it contains directional elements.

Oops, well spotted Alan and Lawrence! My mistake - meant to say 'directional rather than omni directional'. A favoured antenna for omni-directional propagation is a ground mounted trapped vertical. I still have one erected for all bands from 160M to 10M, as well as a trapped 'Inverted V' dipole.

I am not an expert on ham radio but I did spot that there was no thread on aerials here and also spotted it one day last year.
I did think it was a giant yagi but now I know it is a little more special.
I was right about the rotating too.
Repairing the sets is more my thing if I am asked.
