Thank you all very much for the info . I remember seeing the precast belt driven shafts we had one when I worked for a subcontracting company an we were making the quad centenary amplifiers some in gold some in stainless steel , we fitted a polishing mop to one .i have seen the above Visio on you tube and could not beleive what I was swing , trying to take squire stock to round with no tool rest rather brave. I used to use my old lathe a lot for metal turning as I also restored old ATCO lawn mowers mainly th standard billies two stroke models. I have a set of plumber block bearings and shaft a pulley as a starting block for my headstock so far.
