just picked this up from local shop for £12 .this is one pye i have not come across before ,i do like these old pyes i notice the output tx has been changed for an rs type .hope to get time this week to have a look .

The O/P Transformer primary is fairly notorious for going O/C. The Primary should be tapped for hum reduction.
What has been done on that front?

the rs tx used has the tapping .
i think i may have something better.

There have been comments on other Forums that these Pyes hum. Cobblers! They don't hum with the right transformer and good Electrolytics, although the EL41 can suffer the usual problems.

thanks alan i recently did a p75 .that certainly did not hum.
by the way do you know what the f stands for? some one surgested frame but the p75 had a frame aerial and was not surfexed f.

Mine, a plain old P76, doesn't hum either The only downfall on mine is the dial scale which looks as if it has been printed on to sticky tape which has then been applied to the clear Perspex dial facing, the tape has then bubbled a bit. It doesn't look great! Otherwise it's a lovely set, music sounds especially punchy through it. I would definitely buy another one if in better condition than mine.

'f' is for the Frame Aerial. There's a 76 without it.

Nice easy sets to work on, and decent sensitivity in use.

this may take some time some one has been here before me .i know it was common to do the smothing caps like this but some thing not right oround the output valve see pics next step to find the manual and have a look what else has been got at. i glad to say the rf stages look un touched
