Inductor Values.

what part of the tv set did they come from?
they do look like inductors ,they normaly have fatter ends than resistors.
if they have very low resistance and came from the secondery of the lopt they may be fuseable resistors

It was a 'modern' set with a single board and these things were in several places, though none near the LOPT.

They seem to be concentrated on the areas marked "SOUND IF &O/P" near an SAB3035 and "VISION IF AMP" near a TBA3541.

Hang on! They're not Ls; they're Cs. I was starting to think along those lines anyway. I really will have to start wearing my specs more.

Oh well, I've made a prat of myself (again!) but at least the mystery is solved and as capacitors they may well be handy.

Verry easy mistake to make as they all look the same .
so to recap (no pun intended)
if it has a pale green/grey body with colourd band on it could be.
1.a resistor
2. a capacitor
3..an inductor.
4.an inline fuse
5.a fuseable resistor.
and what about smds ?

I would like to apologise for the confusion. The daft thing is that when I first saw those components I could tell that they weren't resistors and thought they were capacitors. I then saw the L labels on the PCB but these were referring to the next component along and some where partly covered hiding the top curl on the C.

I've had the Yellow, Violet, Brown, Silver, Silver one on my AVO Test Bridge and it does indeed read 470pF. Low value caps will be worth having anyway.

When I get a suitable inductor I'll get on with my "RF Signal Generator."

Nothing whatever, Alan; it's a fantastic bit of kit. My quotation marks were deliberate and I have plans for the signal once its generated.
