Some miscellaneous photos

I've been rummaging about in my computer today and I thought this odd selection of old photos might be of interest to some...

In order, they are:

1. Jasmine Bligh on the screen of my Marconi 702.

2. The same set seen from the rear with the back off.

3. The Heritage Television tests on Ch 4½ in 2011. The picture was received 12 miles away. (The most recent efforts from a different location have been on Ch. 1).

4. Gerry Wells's pre-war RGD set in action.

5. Baird Townsman.

6. Luxeon light mixing box for colour NBTV.

7. Mihaly-Traub mirror stack (in rough condition) for NBTV.

For an outsider, the number 4 - RGD - makes the greatest impression. It looks very monumental.

Is that a metal pole on a vertical polarization antenna on the boom.
If so it needs a non metallic section as this effects the polar diagram and resonance of the antenna.

For an outsider, the number 4 - RGD - makes the greatest impression. It looks very monumental.

Donated to the museum by the Getty family.

It's a great exhibit. It's better that it pleases the eyes of many people in a museum than one collector at home. Many people donate valuable family heirlooms to the museum. Personally, I highly approve of such pro publico bono activity.

In my country you can still buy various types of military antenna masts from the 1960s. Even like in the picture - 25 m. Trevor, is a paradise for you

Hi Trevor, 
No, we used a fibreglass pole, for that very reason.

Seeing that 'makes our mouths water'! (English saying).

For the more recent tests on Channel 1 we used a broad band quarter wave unipole with ground plane elements at 50 degrees below horizontal. 

See pic. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we ran into local planning difficulties shortly after getting started.  We are now looking into a change of location...
