New Acquisitions.

I've had the RT-1 playing this morning so am calling that one done, at least for now as I'd rather play safe than risk messing it up completely. The main outstanding task is making a proper battery for it.

This set is now properly finished as I've done the battery and re-capped it. The latter has made a huge difference to its performance. I hadn't done it before as for all that I'd got suitable ones to hand there seemed no point 'wasting' relatively expensive and hard to get high voltage ones so waited until I got some others. I was pleased to note that the PCB showed no desire to fall to bits.

As can be seen, my printer didn't do a very good job of the battery but at least it gave me the size. I'm not going to bother re-doing it as I'm hoping to find a scan of an older design as one with a bar code seems plain wrong.

There's also a sun-lit shot of the dial, which my printer did a better job on thankfully.

It is seeing use and I have every intention of keeping it, though of course nothing is beyond price.

I'm doing that OK, Mark. I tend to use it when it won't be on for long and it isn't worth waiting for a valve set to warm up. Like those it shows modern MW radios up, even my early '90s Roberts RP26.
