It's very easy for TV and software people to talk different languages. With my (mainly broadcast) TV background, video means 1Vp-p into 75 ohms (analogue) or 270Mb/s serial digital interface.

How about Linux via the terminal?
I've not ordered mine yet as our built in oven blew its 4th element, so the cash went to a replacement oven. I'll now wait till after Christmas.

Is there no limit to what hacktv can do?

Perhaps I've missed something but is there any way to get a video signal into hacktv? As against it generatng a test pattern etc.

This has the same type of restrictions as the graphics card old television signal generation i.e. you can play any type of video content that you can store on a PC or stream from the PC. For those wanting direct standards conversion the missing element is video capture.

I bought one of the above and it works well recording the captured video to a directory of your choice in your PC. I don't know how to prevent it writing to memory but I just tried it writing to memory and with VLC player simultaneously reading from the same file location. My graphics card can then display the content in 405, 240, 180 or what have you.

I have got one of those DVRs but it connects to a USB port.
Yours looks like it goes into a PS2 mouse port.

The connector that looks like a PS2 is a 4 pin connector for S Video.

I ought to get a couple of these.

If you decide to buy one of these you might initially think, as I did, that it doesn't work. After discovering that the sense of the S-video or Composite selection was inverted all worked fine.

Hi all,

I've just added a 819-line mode to hacktv (the French system E variant mentioned here: https://www.radios-tv.co.uk/Pembers/Worl...l#Vertical).

I don't have one of these TVs so I can't test it. Does anyone have a working 819-line TV, a hackrf and a few free moments? :-)
The audio probably won't work as it sits outside the hackrf's maximum bandwidth.

So I give in and got a 405-line TV in the form of a Sony 9-90UB.
I was curious to see how well it worked, and it seems to be quite reasonable.
I noticed that the two interlaced fields where misaligned by one line, this is fixed now.

The only major issue is no sound, which I can't be sure isn't a fault with the TV.
For those who have tried hacktv before, did you get sound?
Other than the extremely loud 10.125kHz tone at least :-)
