Hi.
Well when I did the video I had the set connected to the variac and it was set at 200v........ silly me.
Last night I did a MW bandscan and was rewarded with really excellent results, a goodly number of BBC locals including Stoke on 1503 KHz at surprising volume, at the bottom of the band there was a station that sounded Nordic, perhaps Norway or Iceland.
Anyway the chassis is back out along with the speaker, wadding and trims as the cabinet is now away to get re-furbished, I'll have it back midweek.

One thing that has become apparent is a little distortion on the Gram input. I put this down to using a Vari Mu valve and wrong bias. So I have now substituted an EF91, added a 1K UN-bypassed resistor the cathode, connected the grid 1 directly to the volume control, there is now no AGC volts fed to the grid. This has cured the distortion on Gram and overall the set sounds even nicer.
All will be refitted into the cabinet over the weekend and the job will be signed off.
