Many thanks Andy.
Peter you are right about the Mondeo, your version was by far the best one, I'm not so sure of the styling on the later ones and it really never crossed my mind as a car I would want.
I've heard of many being scrapped due to fuelling issues and one lad on the 75 forum eventually scrapped his mums Mondeo due to this.
The 75 and ZT have the same fate many a time as mechanics come along and say head gasket failure without lifting the bonnet. Yes the 1.8 can fail due to this but the V6 & the diesel don't. The big issue is the relative poor design of the cooling system with a silly header tank, inadequate cooling system capacity and a system that is prone to leaks.... all that and the driver who has no idea you should check coolant regularly and the silly header that needs you to have a PHD to work out how much coolant it needs.
If I hadn't been lucky and got a pension lump sum I'd still have the 75 but being so low it was a pain for Anne & myself to get into, the number of time I have bumped my head on the roof pillar is countless, that added to the fuel consumption on the 2.5 V6 & Auto box was crippling.
The Panda is showing 50.5 MPG on the display, it's higher inside and the sill is not as high so we both can get in and out with ease, the clutch is so light and with the driving position being more upright my knee doesn't jag like it did in my first 75 which was manual.
The Panda looks very well made, the doors shut with a nice clunk, the engine is whisper quiet even at 70 mph and the road noise is also well damped, overall a lot quieter than the 75 which was a quality car in it's day.
The 75 has been sold and goes on Sunday to a chap from the Rover forum for £250.
