The TELL is now done - at least for the time being. I won't have much bench time until the New Year so I wanted to get this set back together before leaving it for a few months. I still have to finish the knobs, give it a few more clear coats, replace a blown dial bulb but basically it's back to life. I'm happy with the results so far. If I could find some decent documentation on it I could set it up more accurately but for now it plays fine on both bands.

Over the holidays I'll be working on the doc for the Radialva rebuild. Between now and holiday break I've got my big six-oh to celebrate - current plan is two events over here and maybe a third in Ireland in January.

This was a nice project. I love the design of the tuning mechanism - even if it took a while to figure it out

Thanks Mark, The speaker cloth looks pretty shabby now the cab looks better so I guess I'll replace that with something 'appropriate' next time it's on the bench.

Really great job John,
I have usually sorted out the woodwork but apart from a dust down with a small brush, have left the chassis as is. How did you get the chassis/cans etc like that?

Hi Mike, well on this chassis the only real work in terms of repair was around the tuning dial mechanism. I guess the work on any chassis depends on the degree restoration that is desired. To get a set working fully as when it was new requires all the electronics to be checked and faulty components replaced, etc. My hero in terms of chassis restoration is a chap called Bob Anderson on YouTube. He does mainly vintage TV sets. If you check out his channel you'll find loads of examples of chassis restoration.

Minerva audio section now works a treat. One waveband is completely silent, the other has constant very loud crackling. I've found some dodgy mica caps so thought I'd better look in the IF cans.

There is what appears to be a capacitor coming from the volume control that is completely screened in copper - I've not come across this before??

There's one remaining paper cap buried in the wave selector switch - no idea how to get to it yet!
