If anyone knows of a good & reliable LED equivalent of a 500W halogen security flood , that would be great!

I've certainly seen big LED floodlights used in many places though I've not seen any specific makes. This sort of thing should be roughly equal to a 500W halogen but no idea as to its quality or reliability. It's not even expensive: https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-weyburn-o...00lm/901cc

My point here is that if it's in the Screwfix catalogue it's almost certainly a commonplace item. 50W LED floods seem to be a commodity item now.

We use multiple, similar floodlights to the 27,000lm one mentioned in the previous post, for deck lighting on offshore construction vessels. As deck operations take place around the clock there has to be sufficient lighting for there to be little difference between day and night. The big advantage of the LED lights is the long life; due to the continual vibration halogens had a very short life and access for lamp changing is not always straightforward.
I am virtually all led at home but do have a couple of CFLs lingering on. One problem, for me, with some of the led lamps is HF RF noise. I just move the noisy lamps to places where they can be switched off when I am using the radio. I do still have fluorescent tubes in my garage but they will be replaced with drop in led tubes as they fail. I am undecided what to do about the metal halide lights in the machine shop. It doesn't get a lot of use at the moment so it will probably be a case of slowly changing to led as lamps fail.

I replaced a 500w halogen with a 50w LED (https://www.toolstation.com/zinc-slim-le...p65/p38520) about a year ago.
I can confirm that the light output is about the same although much whiter.
The remote PIR sensor had to be changed as the old one did not work with a LED load.
It's worth noting that some lights, such as the one I have,  come with a short lead permanently attached and need an external junction box.

I'm well aware of Screwfix and Toolstation. The 50W LED floods are about 4000lm; a 500W halogen is between 10-11,000lm, i.e over twice as bright...

LED equivalent costs about £5, uses less than 10W, lasts 25000hr+ So for 1000hr it costs 20p for the lamp,  £1.50 for electricity. About £1.70 total. 

I have not had a home dimmable LED bulb that lasts more than a year yet. I have taken 3 bulbs back to TLC for exchange. They refuse to comment on how many returns they get.
The special LED dimmers I bought were also all changed by the manufacturer.
Take all this wastage into account and are you really saving on energy and precious earth resources.

I've three dimmable LEDs that are four or more years old. Bought from CPC no issues with them.

My TLC dimmables have caused no trouble after the duff batch were replaced.

The old dimmer unit failed, and I replaced it with a fancy one (from TLC) that ramps up the intensity slowly (over a second or so). I don't know if that improves dimmable LED lifetime or not.

All the leading edges dimmers I've seem have a slow start. But I think most of them were V-Pro.
