This looks a bit like something I made a couple of weeks ago (not the telly!). Any guesses as to what it is?

A cage to prevent a 9-90 from escaping??

Well Peter, it rather works the other way. It's supposed to be a Faraday Cage to protect the Sony from being exposed to huge Band I radio waves from the HTL transmitter, which might otherwise overload it. Whether it will actually be any good remains to be seen, since I would expect there to also be a powerful induced field near to the TX relying on the magnetic component of the signal. Very much "try it and see" based on (I admit) a weak grasp of the theory.

"Extra development" has been the name of the game throughout. We keep a list of 'tasks' and each has a way of spreading out into two or three more! That's why it's been taking so d@mned long; not helped at all (from my part) by Parkinson's now slowing me right down.

I think you'll want some nice ferrite rings on the mains and signal cables going to that Sony.

I've seen video kit working at a transmitter site. A fair bit of additional earthing and shielding seems to be needed. I think that high RF field strength was a real problem for the studio kit at Ally Pally.

Yup Jeffrey, there's already a fat ferrite ring in the Sony's mains lead. Presently the signal pick-up is 'stray' from the collapsed telescopic aerial but a feed from a sniffer plus in line attenuation will probably provide cleaner results.
