Jeffrey, yes, the guy was a nut. I had read your article when it came out. It's a bit of a coincidence I mentioned the transmitter - then went to your article - which was where I learnt about the transmitter 30 years ago!

Refugee....That is a dream I've had for 40 years...Finding a skip with a bunch of nice valve amps maybe Lowthers or something exotic...You lucky chap!

It was in the days when valve amps were worth next to nothing.
I had to give a lot of them away but have kept four and never really got round to using them until about 10 years ago.
The reason I kept them is because they are built like boat anchors.
