Hi Rob, I may be able to find you a used tested mains and output transformer.
Note that even if the output transformer is a bit on the small side, as long as it does not get too hot it will simply add a bit more distortion

That will be great if you can. I have been toying with this for ages now and have the chassis, turret board, components, speakers, valves etc etc. I've even got the all necessary parts for a ply cabinet. I was thinking of an 18 watter but i know by a Marshall 5 watt combo I have, 18 watts will be far too loud for home use and as I dont play in a band anymore it will never be used properly at home.
Driving a pair of ECL86's, although not as good as EL84s, will be spot on for what I'm seeking.
Obviously happy to pay costs etc.

I have a suitable drop through mains tfmr for 10 beer tokens Rob, if it's any use. It came off a 5-10 I think.

For low power rich tone I'd recommend Class A SE amplifiers like the Fender Champ. Build this one first, you can always build another.

Schematic looks ok apart from the 25u cathode cap on the input. You could try a 47 or 100u for more a bit more bass. Oh, are you using solid state rectification BTW ?

That sound good although (naive here) you'll have to let me know what beer tokens are (I'm a cider drinker).

Yes, it will have solid state rectification and I agree on the cathode cap too. I have a mod for the tremelo circuit as I beleive that it never worked properly as it had a mistake in the original circuit design.
I understand what you mean re building Fender Champ style amps - I have a Matamp Little Rock (2 x ECC83, 1 x 6V6GTA - this is a little too clean but very, very loud), Marshall Class 5 (one of the first combos with the rattle - I think its about serial no 105!), Marshall DSL201 and my 67 Bronco (Vibro Champ - it was fun getting this up and running). I just thought that the 10 watt Marshall combo, is probably the smallest 'Blues Breaker' type amp to build and a little unusual too. I am in time going to have a crack at the original Fender Deluxe tweed 5E3 circuit.
I do these in between radio restorations.

I'll dig it out Rob and check to see what VA it is, though I think it's 100mA.

No stranger to little guitar amps then. So your after a bit of distortion, of coarse you can use a pedal but they can be less than subtle. Have you thought about designing your own guitar amp?

What nominal capacitor voltages should I use for those not stated on the schematic?
