Disposing of vintage radios.

I managed that too about 5 years ago.
It was an emergency workshop move and an E-bay buyer parted with about the same amount of money to get his car filled up. I moved the bits that were most interesting to me and I am glad I did.

I've been trying to clear out test equipment with about the same result. Shipping would cost more than the items, so they're not even worth trying to sell, not to mention the trouble to pack safely. I found three collectors who were close enough to drive here and back in one day, and basically said they could have things very cheaply or free if they would take a carload. One of them, a scope collector, was so happy he later mailed me a $50 gift card at the local restaurant.

There's a swap meet in a week and I intend to take at least one very heavy item, a General Radio sweep generator that has been occupying half of my woodworking bench for far too long. That one is not coming back, no matter what I get for it.

It was a good deal to both parties Joe and given the current depressed state of selling vintage radios I think I made the correct decision in grasping the opportunity whilst the opportunity was available?

I too selected a few to keep Refugee but might even thin these down a bit.

I feel a great deal better for the clear out Alan D; I've had my enjoyment out of the sets and they had just become ornaments to me gathering dust and occupying a lot of space whilst still going down in value; in the end it was a very easy decision to let them go and in reality any monetary return is a bonus because after all buying the sets in the first instance was only as a hobby. The sets were stored in our spare front bedroom out of sight and were not touched or switched on from one year to the next; I could easily have stored them all in my old workshop to the rear of the bungalow but then what; they simply would occupy the same amount of space elsewhere so I'm pleased they have now gone to a good home.

What a day its been today. I've just sold another six sets to Paul who came back asking if I had decided whether to sell them or not so I'm another £80 better off but as Paul has been dead straight with me I've thrown in at least an equal value of odds and ends so Paul has left us feeling very happy with both deals today.

Two of the radios sold through eBay are being collected next Tuesday at 7 pm so I'm now virtually clear of my radio collection; I've retained some of my favourites and the Ekco TV I restored leaving me with only six sets which I won't be parting with.

My soda/hard media blaster didn't sell on eBay so I'll keep this too and it will gt used during summertime.

I now need to be very careful not to replace these sets with more junk cluttering our home?
