Good scopes from all accounts, if the price is right then no problem.

Certainly all the channels are overkill but you should always be able to find a couple that work

Speed, well no harm in having that you might build some TTL logic stuff sometime and its nice to see square edges.

I have a 2 channel Tek with 2 timebases (one can delay the other and only used for logic to blow up part of a waveform). So one timebase is never used now.

Its solid state and has been very reliable, beautifully built of course.

Will a Hameg work with a Wob? I don't know, my Tek does. Does it have ext trigger?

Complexity is no problem for me as I used these scopes every day when working, for years, for Cmos, TTL, E sq L etc

Think it would be no prob to you either ... Just stick to Main timebase and use whatever channels you need. Often the different triggering modes on these more complex scopes are handy and Teks trigger particularly well.

If the price is right and you can test it I would go for it.

To bring this thread to a close ....... I have had my hands on this scope for some time in the college and I am quite happy that it is in perfect working order. We have used it to signal trace on Arduino and Raspberry Pi modules (to a degree) and so I know how to drive it.

We are still negotiating over price, but it seems I will be able to get it at a price not too far off David's (Yorkie) Hameg price. The college have just been "gifted" a massive suite of test equipment by a major company, and so are divesting themselves of all the old stuff. To be perfectly honest, the new stuff is pure overkill, except for the most advanced of curricula. If I can get hold of a list of the remaining stuff that is up for grabs, I will post a list. The brokers have already been in and made sealed offers. We (staff and volunteers) are being given the opportunity of topping the best offer for any piece once bids are opened. I got my name on the Iwatsu first and so (by their rules) nobody else in the faculty can bid.

Knowing its history and condition, and the real reason it's being sold, are worth a lot. Likewise for the probes.

Well, I won this scope at a price of £75 and .............. there's a second one available to me (10 days to decide) at the exact same price. They are both in full working order, no screen burns, no broken knobs, scratch-free case, and with mains lead, but without probes.

If anyone is interested, I could take the second one too and pass it on at the same price, without any mark up - that is, you pay £75.

If I was in the market for such a scope I would have it, Iwatsu have a good name in scopes, most Jap scopes are good, had a couple of Hitachis when I was in the service trade, delayed sweep etc, that was years ago but they still turn up on Ebay fully functioning.

Nobody interested in this scope then? I have gone ahead and bought the second one - you never know when a spare might come in useful! ;-) The offer still stands that if anyone wishes to have it, I will pass on for the price I paid (£75) plus whatever it costs to get it to you.
