Murphy A46 repair/restoration

By coincidence I have just re-strung an A46 today. The service sheet suggests that you remove the dial glass and the assembly to which the tuning knob attaches. This does indeed make it much easier.

The pointer goes in the middle of the piece of cord. it then goes over the pulleys at top and bottom and once round the big drive pulley. That makes the pointer go exactly to each end of the dial. I am attaching a couple of photos that may help.

I have now sorted the drive cord problem, the comment to myself is "stupid boy"
During the restoration I had removed the tuning gang and re-rubbered the mountings.
I had thought that the gang was opening fully due to the reassuring metallic click at each end, fully in and fully open, HOWEVER the stupid boy problem had come into the equation, one of the front screw mountings for the t/gang was the wrong screw, too long, at almost fully open the t/gang was hitting this screw.
Naturally it was almost totally obscured and the most difficult to get at but normality has now been restored
